Weights workshop

Bringing the gym to people

Stronger in 2026

I set out to develop something more than just another fitness class. My goal was to create a dedicated Strength Workshop, a space where people could learn to lift heavier weights safely, master new exercises, and build real confidence in the gym environment. I wanted to reach people who lacked the confidence to walk straight into a gym and basically bring the gym to them.

Rather than a standard class format, I envisioned a workshop-style session: teaching the fundamentals, demonstrating correct technique, and empowering participants to design their own workouts with knowledge and purpose. Strength is not just about lifting more it’s about understanding how and why you move.

The session starts with a focused 20-minute dumbbell and kettlebell segment. Participants select weights suited to their ability and are guided through a structured progression of exercises, from bicep curls to Zottman curls, building both technique and control.

We then move into a series of strength stations including trap bars, squat racks, weight bags, Hyrox balls and more. With around ten stations set up, participants rotate every two minutes, adjusting weight plates, refining technique, completing sets, and challenging themselves at their own pace. It’s structured, supportive, and designed for progress.

I had hoped for 12–15 participants at the first session, so when 20 people walked through the new doors of the local hall, I was both surprised and delighted. As with any new initiative, momentum builds over time, and as we move into April, we are consistently welcoming around 20 people each week with new faces continuing to join.

In just 10 weeks, the progress has been inspiring. Strength has increased. Confidence has grown. Social circles have expanded. I’ve had to invest in heavier weights to keep up with everyone’s development and introduce new challenges each week. Participants consistently report feeling stronger, more capable, and even experiencing less post-workout soreness as their bodies adapt.

The feedback has been very positive and the fact that its now April and people are still attending the class speaks volumes.
